What Movies Can Teach Us About Business

Need something to read this weekend? Check out The Big Picture.

One of my hobbies (if you want to call it that) is watching movies. They provide entertainment and every so often there is a movie that inspires us to better ourselves in one form or another.

So I was excited when I got a chance to review The Big Picture: Essential Business Lessons from the Movies by Kevin Coupe and Michael Sansolo.

The basis of the book is pretty simple: what specific movies can teach us about business.

The Big Picture grabs lessons from over 60 movies including: Jaws, Pirates of the┬áCaribbean, Schindler’s List,┬áCasino Royale, Charlie Wilson’s War, Star Trek, and When Harry Met Sally, to name a few.

The lessons cover topics in branding, ethics, customer focus, leadership, and more.

The Big Picture is an easy, yet enjoyable read. The chapters are broken down into individual lessons along with the movies we can learn them from.

So if you want to learn more about:

  • What Jaws can teach you about denial
  • What Captain Jack Sparrow can teach you about marketing
  • What the Jamaican bobsled team can teach you about self worth…

or just want to dig deeper into some of your favorite movies, then consider checking out a copy of The Big Picture.
