What a Start

Jan 2nd, 2008 | By TheWild1 | Category: Financial Markets

So I unpacked and was ready to start the 2008 stock market with a bang, but that obviously hasn’t been the plan so far. The Dow opened up with a triple digit decline. Technology is being hit pretty hard, while energy seems to be the leading the market. There has also been horrible data that has been released. All these factors are leading causes for the horrible start to 2008.

It is all pretty interesting. Should you conduct a whole summary of what is too happen in 2008 on just the first day? Should you change your trading plan for the year on just one day? Should you even rush to judgment?

It is pretty evident the market didn’t necessarily end on good terms for 2007, and for sure that volatility seems like it will carry into 2008.

So for now I will watch the market for about the first week or so before I make any initial assessment. That will also give me enough time to catch up on all the market news that I missed while out of town.

It is important to remember that you should stay consistent with your plan, and don’t let every little piece of bad news effect everything.

So long 2007.

INDU 2007
