    “Did you watch the show?”

“No, I Tivo’d it and will watch it later.”

While “Tivo” has become a part of our social vocabulary, the truth of the matter is that very few people are actually “tivoing” with a Tivo.

Since TiVO (TIVO) introduced the digital video recorder, it has simply revolutionized the way most of experience television today. No longer must we block out plans to catch the latest episode of Barney and Friends.

Nope… now we can just set a scheduled recording and watch it when we have time.

While the concept of digital recording has been gaining popularity, the actual use of a Tivo has been becoming rather outdated. Rather, in these days, we are turning to our cable providers and other online options, that allow us to record our shows.

In the world of business this is often the norm. One company will introduce a product, and soon after other companies will swoop in, tweak the idea, and leave the originator in the dust. Just look at Myspace vs FacebookNetflix (NFLX) vs BlockBuster (BBI).

What is the future of TiVo? It seems like any real stock price movement comes from a court awarding them in some court ruling; however, this has increased the value of the company, which diminishes the chances of possible buyout situations.

As cable companies look to expand their services and even keep their declining subscribers, how much longer can TiVo sustain their current business model? How many bulls can they buy?
