Twitter – One of the Best Financial Tools

I’ll be the first to tell you that it took me sometime to eventually create a Twitter account. I mean how good could a service be where it was just a bunch of 140 characters or less comments be?

Well I my preliminary judgement was absolutely wrong. Besides just the normal networking and discussion amongst others, Twitter allows users to access a wealth of information within seconds at anytime of the day.

While most of you probaby don’t care about the regular aspect of Twitter, a group of people developed a site call StockTwits.com. Essentially it gathers all the comments posted on Twitter that have a stock symbol in it (usually indicated with a $ in fron i.e $MSFT).

With new comments posted nearly every second of the day, you will always have somebody to talk to or bounce investing ideas off. The other day I was perusing through some financial sites at 2 in the morning and wanted to know what some people thought of a certain stock. I simply asked the Twitter community and within seconds I had people giving me their opinions. This is at 2 in the morning.

I am typically not a daytrader, but if you aren’t watching Twitter/StockTwits during the market hours you could definitely be losing some money. In fact the other day I made a nice little profit because of a comment somebody posted.

There are users who post exactly when you should buy, sell, or watch a stock. Even if you are shaky about your trading skills, then just sit back and see how some people do it.

You won’t really understand the power of Twitter/StockTwits until you actually try it out. It is a free service, really easy to use, and yes I am on it. Friend me!

Thanks for the link. I was actually interested in trying out a little day trading – As I’m very interested in how it works for people. Will be interesting to have a tool to watch others and see what they do.

Twitter & Facebook and the other social networks is the equivalent of walking down the street, like we once use to do, and say a G’Day to others that pass by, or the soapbox in the park for those to air political, religious views & other statements on a persons life to friends & family. We use to do, not just the mad dash down the footpath for the office or to catch the train or bus all of the time.

Even then, what was said in one moment was outdated within a second. It all depends on what people want to remember to whether it is out dated.

Just like walking down the street, we still get plenty of shop front advertisements. Somethings never change.

Yeah, but whats great about social networks is that you can choose who to follow and not, so we must do our due diligence before blindly following somebody. At least, thats what I do.
