Trump Strategies For Real Estate

I just finished reading Trump Strategies for Real Estate: Billionaire Lessons for the Small Investor by George Ross. For people that don’t know him, he is Donald Trump’s right hand man, long time sidekick on The Apprentice, and successful lawyer. Throughout the book, Ross shares strategies that helped Trump create his fortune, while modifying them so they can work for the small investor.

The book is a simple read with a continuous template flowing throughout the book. Each chapter topic pertains to a step in real estate investing, antidote of what Trump did, and then how it can relate to us normal people. I have to admit that many of the actual tips Ross lays out aren’t new concepts to anybody that knows a little bit about real estate; however, he presents them in a way that helps you look at things more creatively (one of the main points driven). Some of the topics the book covers include:

• Choosing Property
• Negotiation
• Raising Capital
• Marketing Strategies
• Managing Properties

The parts I liked the best were the antidotes of Trump’s investments. It was actually interesting to see what went into some of them, although sometimes it seemed like a strategy will only work if you are powerful and worth billions. Yet these deals include transactions of enormous amount of money, and I can’t lie… I love anything having to do with money.

Overall, I find it hard to complete a whole book, and I actually managed to zip through its entirety pretty quickly. I would recommend this book as more of an entertainment read with a little bit of education thrown in and to anybody that is interested in real estate or even history. I came to learn a lot about some of the buildings in New York City.
