Time to Move on to Asia?

Jul 16th, 2008 | By TheWild1 | Category: Financial Markets

One of America’s top investor, Jim Rogers, feels that the best of the United States is behind us. So much that he is ready to relocate him and his family to Asia. He already has his two little children able to speak Mandarin.

A quick summary of what his thoughts are include:

  • The dollar is doomed
  • The Federal Reserve will come to and end in the next decade or so
  • Oil will cruise past $200 a barrel
  • Asia is where we are heading to

According to Rogers,

Asia is the wave of the future. Moving to the UK in 1807 would have been brilliant, and moving to America in 1907 would have been brilliant. We’ll see if moving to Asia in 2007 would have been brilliant.

It is an interesting point that he brings up. Are the U.S. golden years behind us? If it is, then is Asia that next best place?

  1. Hhhmmmm….I live in the Philippines.

I must admit that the cost of living is a lot cheaper than there. However, there’s not much opportunity in the country thats why there are more than 8 million Filipinos working outside the country to feed their family back home. So here’s my analysis:

If you’re living in a First World country and you happen to be well-off, you can live in any Asian country like a royalty.

If you’re living in a ThirdWorld country and you happen to belong to the “working class”, you better move out if you want a better future for your family. Then spend your dollars backhome.

Please do correct me if I’m wrong.

You are 100% correct about being well-off and living like royalty in any Asian country. Great points
