TD Ameritrade Launches Pattern Matcher

Just a couple months back I was scouring the internet for several different chart programs. My stock brokerage is TD Ameritrade (AMTD), but I was not really in love with the chart tools that were available.

It looks like TD Ameritrade took my concerns seriously.

As of the last couple of weeks, Ameritrade has launched, updated, and revolutionized many of their tools, which you can only use with a membership. There are no maintenance fees (at least for me), so it doesn’t really cost you anything.

My first problem with charts came when I was trying to find a clean and efficient ways to share them on this site. My first stop was with StockCharts; however, they eventually got tedious and boring for me.

So I turned to Tradecision. Although their charts are some of the best around, the layout and dimension do not suit the space alloted within TWI, so I was stuck to use TD Ameritrade’s boring charts in their online trading platform.

But like everything for me, even that started to become annoying. You couldn’t really use different colors or types of drawings and I was forced to use estimates to guess where the lines were landing. On top of that, I got tired of taking a screen shot, opening Photoshop, and making it friendly enough for the site.

So I continued to dig, and came across the newest version of TD Ameritrade’s downloadable trading platform.

The charts are clean and easy, you can basically do anything you want with them, and the drawings stay on the stocks (if you save the entire workspace) so you can see how they performed after you made your analysis. To make things even better, once you are done you could just save it directly into an uploadable friendly format, so I don’t have to worry about opening Photoshop anymore.

Just when I became satisfied, Ameritrade turned things up even another level. Today they just released something called Pattern Matcher.

Although I have only used it briefly, from what I saw it seemed very cool. All you have to do is choose the pattern you like and other bits and pieces of criteria, then it will run a scan for you and pull stocks that are fitting the pattern (pictures below).

Overall I am surprising pleased with the service TD Ameritrade has begun to offer its users; however, they can DEFINITELY improve in the customer support department.

Other than the $9.99/trade, I have not had to pay any type of fee. So if you would like to join and are in the giving mood, then hit me up through the contact page and let me send an invite to you. Although you don’t need one, I can get $50 per referral.

That being said, I would still STAY AWAY from this stock.

Are there any tools or services (besides TWI of course) that you really like?
