Photogra-money

What a great day it was searching for different properties all over the lake, but that’s not what this post is about.

Everybody takes pictures, but did you know that anybody can sell their own photos for money (most sites require to be at least 4 mega pixels). I must have taken over 100 pictures today. Some which were for reference, but most were for selling online. By doing a simple Google search, you can find dozen of sites that allow you to upload pictures and then have them sold on the site. For many of the sites, you must first submit about 10 pictures, so a panel can see if you are eligible to become a registered photographer.

There are usually about 3 different types of ways these sites work:

Subscription based sites: where users can pay a fee to download up to a certain amount of pictures.

You usually make a fixed amount per picture.

As a casual photographer, I use this and feel this is quick and easy although you might not make as much as creating your own price. I make about (.25 cents per picture). Although it might not seem like a lot, after a selling some pictures it starts to add up.

Photographer set price: more seasoned photographers can create their own prices.

These sites basically let you run on your own and permit you to choose your own prices, while allowing you to use their already existing clientele.

With different prices, there is a greater sense of competition between photographers, and the sites take a portion of your profits in return for letting you use their site.

If you are up for the challenge, then you might want to create your own site.

Drawbacks of this include having to generate your own customers, print, and ship pictures.

An incentive includes possible maximization of your profits.

In the end, it is really up to your skill level and how much time you have. Although the last two types of sites allow you to pick your own price, the photographers’ skill level on those sites are usually above par, while the first type of sites (pictures still have to be good) but there is a better chance of your pictures being bought.

Most people already have a good enough camera and there really is no age limit because it takes basically little to know money to get started. So get snapping.
