Never think you are too young

This article is a lesson on how it is never too young to start making money. As I was perusing through my emails today, I came across one of those “why did I not think of that” story.

Apparently a 17 year old girl is generating a whopping $70,000 a MONTH by providing services for the site Myspace. Members of the popular social-networking site go to whateverlife.com to find graphics, layout, and “whatever” else you may need to pimp out your Myspace page.

Also astonishing is that everything on her site is absolutely FREE. All of the revenue she generates is soley off adverstising. She has even turned down offers to be bought, purchased a home for herself, and dropped out of high school (which I would personally never recommend). Whateverlife.com bathes in 7 million individuals and 60 million page views a month. According to fastcompany.com that is more “than the circulations of Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and CosmoGirl! magazines combined.”

The creator started from scratch and never looked back. The site has been running for 3 years and it is still growing. However, since she is under 18, the money that she has earned is put in a trust and she nor her parents can touch it until she turns 18. Right now she receives an allowance of an amount appointed by the court.

I am not a member of Myspace and never plan on becoming one, but I am pretty sure that creating these layouts and graphics cannot be too hard to do if you have some knowledge on webmastering and photoshop. I also know that there are tons of people that search for these type of free goodies all the time. So if you have some spare time, then why not give it a go.

Things to remember:

Since everything was free, all the revenue she experiences is soley off advertisements. So make sure you have a plan ready.
Just because the site runs off advertisements, don’t turn it into one big billboard. Remember the point of the site, and everything else will follow.
Don’t expect to start your site and have it an instant success. On most occasions, these things take some time and work.<!–kw=business celebrity myspace online–>
