Joe the Plumber is NOT the Average American

October 16th, 2008 | Filed under: General,

I don’t normally like to talk about politics, but “Joe the Plumber” is from Toledo, Ohio, I was born there, and so I feel I have some sort of obligation to share my 2 cents.

If you have no idea what I am talking about, then watch this video first [VIDEO ENCLOSED]:

First off, I am confused. Is his name really Joe?

Second, why is there a great debate on how much somebody who makes more than $250,000 will be taxed. If they only represent 5% of the country’s population, then to be honest I could care less about their votes. That is the harsh reality we have to face. It is a numbers’ game, and to win you have to please the majority.

I mean lets really think about it. Last time I check “Joe the Plumber” relies on people needing his services and PAYING him. If the majority of people that use his services make under $250,000, then shouldn’t that benefit him? If “Mrs. Taylor the Teacher” can’t afford to pay a plumber, then that would essentially hurt Joe the Plumber. Unless there is a really bad problem, people may opt not to call a plumber.

If Joe can’t get any business, then he might have to lower prices, and well then… I guess he will be in the less than $250,00 bracket. So it seems like a win-win situation.

McCain said it best, “Joe you’re rich.” Yeah, so who cares.

To clarify, I don’t think Joe really cares that much, but, instead, it was just a last attempt by John McCain to try and sway some votes his way.

What do you think?

Should we really focus on Joe the Plumber? Is too big of a deal being made that he might have to pay more taxes than those less fortunate than he is?
