Is Hewlett-Packard The Next Great Investment?

Last week Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) announced that they would be spinning off or selling its PC and mobile computing business units. My first reaction was: what else does HP do?

Apparently that was the same reaction of many other traders as the stock got ripped apart over the next couple of days, but then I got to thinking… there must be something behind this shift in business direction.

With it’s recent acquisition of the UK software company, Autonomy, it has become quite clear that HP is moving it’s focus to the software side of technology, so what’s the outlook for this company?
