There's an excellent book out now called The Big Gamble by <a href="http://www.financialspeculation.com/index.php/about-the-authors" rel="nofollow">Jose Roncal and Jose Abbo</a> that I think should be required reading for anyone thinking about investing. They offer up an excellent explanation of the differences between investing, speculating, and outright gambling and how to make them work for you instead of against.
