Holiday Wish List

As a family we don’t really celebrate Christmas; however, we still do exchange presents. My family is always the worst at giving gifts. I like surprises and wrapped presents, but no one else seems to share that feeling. I basically have to force everybody to participate. If it was up to the rest of the family, they would prefer I just tell them what I want.

Although some people might like that, I rather have the feeling of not knowing what I am getting. I also like to surprise people with gifts, yet no one else again shares that same feeling. So whether it be my birthday or holiday season, I usually have to make a list of of things I want, but wait… it doesn’t stop there.

Laziness runs in my family so much, that people will just take the list and hand it to some kid who works at Best Buy and get whatever they have. The problem is sometimes certain stores won’t have the product or it might need to be purchased online, so I throw in some really expensive items (to clarify: expensive = still below $1000) to try and force them to pick what they want, but wait… yeah that’s right… they will just go and buy the most expensive thing on the list and call it a day. So what am I to do? Some may call me greedy for expecting too much, but all I am really asking for is to put some thought into the gift. Is that crime?
