Get your Documents in Order
With the age of the internet coming on strong, everybody is looking for ways to outsource to the internet. One of the many problems that I face, is trying to find a suitable place to share/upload documents. I have tried Google Docs and various other solutions, but they never really pan out well. By uploading documents online, it makes it easier to have others retrieve those files or for me to even get to them when I am away from my computer.

Bring in Docstoc
Docstoc is an amazing resource for entrepreneurs, and a community of users sharing their professional documents. Besides being a place to just upload your documents, Docstoc has tons (70,000+) of free legal and business documents. What is pretty amazing is the amount of activity the site has received, since its launch just 3 months ago. Backed by co-founders/investors of MySpace, Baidu, Mp3.com, and Lowermybills.com, they already have 35,000+ registered members. So you know they will be around for a while.
I couldn’t get over the amount and different types of files that were uploaded to the site. There were business plan forms, legal documents, excel worksheets, and the list could go on. When uploading you can also decided what copyright laws you want to give it, and whether to make it private or not. Documents are automatically embedded into the site, so you don’t have to download the file to your computer until after you see what the file exactly is. You can also embed the document onto your own website.

In an interview with the Founder of Docstoc, the question asked was what were some interesting case studies with the site so far:
There have already been a number of instances where professionals who posted their content have been contacted by various users requesting their paid professional services.
So besides being a useful tool for documents, it can also help improve your business and make you more money.
Community Feel
Although the site’s main focus is document storage, of course no hot up and coming online business would be right without a community feel. Users have the ability to become “friends” with owners of documents they like. Profiles are present and if you are lucky you might even be able to see a picture of the member.

Final Thoughts
Overall Docstoc looks like a perfect solution for online document storage/sharing. One of the main problem users will probably experience is spending too much time cycling through the different types of documents the site has to offer. The whole service is completely free and you really have to try it out yourself to learn everything Docstoc has to offer.
