Get the Right Permits

In my past article, Ebay deals, I addressed how you could potentially make money of the popular auction site. One of the things mentioned was acquiring a seller’s permit in order to buy wholesale. Buying wholesale is when you can buy items, in bulk, directly from the manufacturer. The seller’s permit allows you to sell those items onto other customers and collect sales tax from your customers, which then you pay to the state.

Like promised, I will tell you how even you can get a hold of a seller’s permit and let you know of some other permits you may need…

Some of the places that you can register for seller’s permit include the Board of Equalization, Sales Tax Commission. or the Franchise Tax Board.

All states have some differences in how to get a seller’s permit, but in the end they are all basically the same. You can go to IRS.gov for some more information about your state.

Once you figure how, where your state wants you to go to register for a permit, then you usually have two options in receiving one:

You can either go to the office in person: this is usually the fastest way because they can usually process it and give you one on the same day.

Send in the application by mail: usually takes a little longer

I recommend getting an application by phone or online, complete it, and then take it directly to the appropriate office. This way if you go there, then you know you should have everything you need.

Other things you should consider or maybe actually need are a Business License and a DBA (doing business as). Here is a quick quiz that will help you determine what you will actually need. http://www.businessnameusa.com/licenses/info/step1.aspx

Like everything with starting a new business, it will take some time and definitely some struggles, but in the end it should be well worth it.<!–kw=venture permit start–>
