Does Anybody Really Have a Solution?

I was listening to the musing tales of Bobby Jindal the other day, when I realized we spend much of our time listening to people who really don’t want to tell us anything.

Think about it. For roughly the last year the United States was pushing its way through an old fashion high school election. We can do this, that, and the other. Regardless, of what party you were rooting for, none of the candidates were really telling you what was happening. Sure deep in our hearts many people already knew how badly it could get, but do we still need to listen to a bunch of people filling our heads of somewhat lofty expectations?

A good example of this came in the many debates. It seemed like the question that was most commonly deflected by both parties were, “With the current economic situation, what will you have to take away from your initial plan?”

Political CartoonDid any of them truthfully come out and tell us exactly what was going to be crossed off or pushed back? No, rather we were forced to listen to fluff. Why… because none of them wanted to lose votes?

In the arena of politics, stock markets, and basically everything you do, there are always winners and losers. Most likely whenever you profited off a stock trade, it directly impacted another person losing on the trade; hence, the zero-sum game theory many argue.

The same holds true in politics. Spending more money here, obviously, means we are going to have to take some money away from there. Yet, while that seems common knowledge, many of our highest politicians don’t want to rightfully come out and tell us A, B, C.

Tell me, what would you rather here?

As Americans we can come together and know we can do anything, which lets me know that we will find our way out of this mess… Well no, duh, eventually we will, but what you really just told me was nothing.

… or would you be more interested in that, this, that, and the other will fail, we will have to take money from there, and oh yeah citizens will be paying for it all?

If you ask me, I prefer that last one? Tell me the truth, and really let me know what is going on.

I’ll be the first to tell you I don’t know all the in’s and out’s of politics. I’ll be lucky to name you more than 10 current high ranking political officers, but I am quickly coming to the conclusion that none of them really know how to fix the problem.

Supposedly we have and are throwing billions and trillions of dollars at this problem, while hoping it would “stimulate” the economy; however, just like any investment, spending of money, or whatever, the more money we put in, the longer it will be for us to cover our cost.

If we buy shares of Stock X at $40, it dips to $20, and we hold on, then we need to wait for the stock to essentially make a 100% just to breakeven.

So let me know when somebody figures out when we are suppose to breakeven of a couple trillion dollars, until then I’ll just be listening to Bobby Jindal sharing stories of him and his dad in the grocery store about how “American can do anything.”
