While Apple’s iPad is still fresh off its recent launch, there is certainly no shortage of viable applications to be downloaded right away. I recently got a chance to play around with an iPad and test out its user capabilities, with emphasis on stock trading.

Overall, I was looking very forward to getting the opportunity to use my finger to draw on stock charts. While there are sure to be more apps to be hitting the digital shelves in the coming weeks, below I have constructed a list of the top available stock trading applications for the iPad.

The Wall Street Journal – The most respective financial newspaper makes its way onto the easy to read iPad. Gain access to WSJ content, create watch lists, check out market data, and watch market videos. The look and feel replicates that of its online model. Price: Free

ETRADE Mobile Pro – While the ETRADE Mobile Pro is one of the most popular stock trading apps for the iPhone, the stock broker has quickly created an iPad version of their popular application. With this app, gain access to real-time streaming quotes, market news, create advanced stock orders, and manage your account/portfolio. Price: Free

Bloomber for iPad - If you can access it through their normal website, you can get to it on this application. Bloomberg for iPad captures the full website straight onto your device. Price: Free

NASDAQ OMX Portfolio Manager – As the official app by NASDAQ, through this app, gain access to real time quotes from US and Nordic markets, create a watch list, and get charts. Even more impressive, this app is synced with StockTwits, so see what other traders are saying. Price: Free

Stock Portfolio for iPad – Think of this application as an aggregator for all your stock brokerage needs: create watch lists, view real-time data, and sync up with multiple brokerages. Great for traders with multiple broker accounts. Price: $4.99

iStockManager – Manage your TD Ameritrade account through this application. Access data, news, level 2 charts, complex option chains, and execute orders. Price: Free
