Apple Sells 1 Million iPads In First Month

May 4th, 2010 | Filed under: Financial Markets, ,

In just a month Apple (AAPL) has already sold its 1 millionth iPad. I find that to be an amazing number considering the type of economy we are in and the fact that it is a fairly new type of device – not to mention that I wasn’t the biggest fan of the iPad.

Nonetheless, despite my dissatisfaction, Apple is selling these iPads two times faster than the iPhone.

Although in fairness, users aren’t required to dump a current cell phone plan to get the iPad as they might have to with the iPhone.

According to Steve Jobs, “One million iPads in 28 days — that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone. Demand continues to exceed supply,” he claimed, “and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”

Moreover, I live in the Washington DC area and was able to just walk in on the second day of the launch and buy an iPad without waiting in line, so you see why I’m a little shaken on the demand exceeding the supply.

Certainly the rapid success of the iPad is just another notch in Apple’s belt.

While these astronomical numbers won’t continue forever, the fact remains that users of these Apple devices will continue to purchase books, movies, music, games, and other apps via the iTunes. See the best stock trading apps for the iPad.

Thus, continuing the cash machine that is Apple.
