Ebay Deals
Sep 11th, 2007 | By TheWild1 | Category: BusinessThe other day I was talking to one of my younger cousin’s about the career day that was held at his school. I was actually amazed with how different the careers were from when I had my career days. Back when I was in school the jobs consisted of doctors, bankers, firemen, the local grocery store manager, who thought he had the most important job, and all the other typical jobs you usually associate with career day (unless you are in school now).
Out of all the jobs my cousin mentioned, the career that really stood out (I didn’t even think about this being an actual career) was an Ebay seller. Apparently this lady sits at home all day and specializes in selling sports paraphernalia. So, like always, I thought I would do a little investigative research on how to become a seller.
If you are just looking in making some extra spending money and not turning it into a full fledged career, then you are best off searching your house for things you don’t want or do, but you would rather get the cash. If that is not enough, then ask your neighbors or post flyers around the community stating that you will sell things they don’t want anymore, for a small fee. You can either make this a fixed rate or a percentage. It is really up to what you are selling and the potential price it could be sold for.
However, if you have mastered that or feel you are ready for a bigger commitment, then there are more options. I know when I used to go on Ebay I always wondered how some people could get a lot of the same items, and then sell them. Well I figured out that these sellers purchase items in wholesale from the manufacturer, and you can do this to.
First, you will need to acquire a seller’s permit. This will allow you purchase wholesale. With a simple Google search, you can find out how to do this. You should also look into getting a local license and file for you Federal Employee Identification number.
I will add an article on how to do all this later on, but if I did it now this would become a book.
You will need the seller’s permit to even have a chance of buying wholesale. For people that don’t know, wholesale is basically the sale of merchandise (used or new) to retailers. This is usually in bulk and allows you to sell items individually at a profit. Essentially each item per bulk is cheaper then if you just bought one individually (think of Costco or Sam’s Club). Another Google search can help you find potential items to sell. You can also search for trade shows in your area.
Eventually, as you build a relationship with your manufacturer, they might ship you better items to you. In the end, the amount of success will really depend on how much you put into it, and I guess that is really where this could become your career.
